As an analyst, I have experienced the benefits of having access to quality training, mentorship and guidance. I have also seen how difficult it can be for aspiring analysts to break into the industry or advance in their careers due to lack of access to the right resources and support.

My Goal

Beginning in April, I plan to produce a new video project course every two to three weeks on the Skillshare platform that focuses on data analysis. Each course will cover a specific topic related to data analysis and provide learners with practical skills and insights that they can apply in their own work.

My goal is to create video projects that are engaging, informative and practical, and that provide real-world examples and scenarios that others can relate to. I might also offer guidance on different topics related to innovation, entrepreneurship, and creativity, as well as provide insights on how to become a successful analyst.

Why SkillShare?

One of the reasons I chose Skillshare to offer my video project courses is because it enables me to offer quality training, mentorship and guidance through projects. Skillshare courses are designed to be practical and hands-on, providing learners with the opportunity to apply the concepts they learn in real-world scenarios. This means that learners will be able to follow along with the projects, ask questions, and get feedback from me and other learners in the community.

Skillshare is a great resource for anyone looking to learn new skills, develop their talents, or enhance their careers. With access to my video project courses and hundreds of other courses on the platform on creativity, entrepreneurship, and marketing, my viewers will have the opportunity to learn, grow, and achieve their goals in a supportive and collaborative community.

My Intention

I believe that by providing practical solutions to problems, sharing my experiences and insights, and inspiring others to become better at what they do, I can make a positive impact in the lives of my fellow analysts or aspiring analysts. I believe that by sharing my knowledge and expertise, I can make a difference in the lives of others, and contribute to the growth and development of the industry as a whole.

My Plan

Out of all the articles I have written, the โ€œData Analystโ€™s Toolkitโ€ article has received the most positive feedback and engagement. As a result, I have made the decision to develop a video project series for each of the four essential tools for data analysts I mentioned in the article: Excel, Python, R, and SQL. Additionally, I plan to create general projects that cover programming and statistics to further support my viewers in their data analysis journeys. Here are some of the ideas I have so far.

Python video projects ideas

  • A project that you could get during an interview to see if you can data analyze in python. This includes working with pandas and data visualization libraries
  • A project on working with unstructured data, files and text.
  • A project on regular expressions
  • A project on python data structures.

R programming video projects ideas

  • Getting Started with RStudio IDE and importing data
  • Working with the tidyverse (equivalent of pandas for Python) and data visualization libraries, such as ggPlot2
  • Project on RMarkdown, data analysis and visualization, like ggpubr, which makes publication ready plots very easily
  • a project on R Data structures
  • a project on Dashboarding with R Shiny

SQL video project ideas

  • a beginner SQL course on select, where, group by, order by, aliases etcโ€ฆ
  • a project on data cleaning and transforming with functions to handle NULL values, CASE statements etc..
  • a projects on JOINS.
  • a course on CTE, HAVING clause, and window functions

If youโ€™ve been reading my articles, you know by now that Iโ€™m going to use SQL Server and the Northwind database.

Excel project ideas

  • a course on Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP
  • a course on macros and VBA
  • a course on PowerQuery

General Data Analyst Courses

  • Programming and Computing fundamentals
  • Statistics for data science (Descriptives, Inferential, Hypothesis testing, statistical tests and linear regression fundamentals.

While I acknowledge that this goal may be challenging, my primary motivation for sharing it on Medium is to hold myself accountable. I have been fortunate to have had many excellent teachers in my life, and I am eager to pay it forward by providing quality training, mentorship, and guidance through my video projects. It is my responsibility to give back to the community of aspiring and experienced analysts.

Thank YOU

Thank you for taking the time to read my article, and for your ongoing support. If you have any suggestions for projects I could add or revise, I would greatly appreciate your input. I welcome your feedback and thoughts on whether this is a realistic and worthwhile goal, and whether it would be of interest to other aspiring or experienced analysts. Please donโ€™t hesitate to share your thoughts and ideas with me.
